Wendy G. Talley, MD, FAAP

Dr. Wendy Talley founded Growing Up Pediatrics in June 2000, bringing her passion for relationship-based, family-centered pediatric care to the Lake Norman community. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her medical degree from East Carolina University School of Medicine. Dr. Wendy completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham, where she also served as Chief Resident of Pediatrics. A board-certified Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Wendy is dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized care for every child and family she serves.

Christina A. Wescott, MD, FAAP

Dr. Christina Wescott joined Growing Up Pediatrics in October 2008. She completed her undergraduate studies at the College of William and Mary in Virginia before earning her medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, where she also completed her pediatric residency and served as Chief Resident of Pediatrics. Prior to joining GUP, Dr. Wescott worked for two years in a community health center serving an underserved rural area of eastern North Carolina. A board-certified Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, she is fluent in Spanish and values the relationships she builds with her patients and their families. Dr. Wescott lives in Davidson with her husband, daughter, and son.

Carrie Gregory, MD, FAAP

Dr. Carrie Gregory joined Growing Up Pediatrics in August 2016. She completed her undergraduate degree magna cum laude at the State University of New York at Geneseo and earned her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Dr. Gregory completed her pediatric residency at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, where she became a board certified Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2013. Before relocating to North Carolina, she practiced at Barrington Pediatrics in Rhode Island and worked with the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, developing a strong interest in supporting breastfeeding mothers and children. Dr. Gregory lives in Davidson with her husband, a faculty member at Davidson College, and their daughter and son.

Valorie S. Byrd, FNP-C

Valorie Byrd joined Growing Up Pediatrics as a Family Nurse Practitioner in November 2014, after serving as both a registered nurse and office manager since the practice first opened in 2000. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Valorie brings decades of hands-on experience, warmth, and continuity to GUP’s care team. She and her husband live in Statesville with their dogs and cows, while her adult daughter and son remain nearby.
